Hint: Martha's New Home Management App
Ever wonder when you should flush your water heater or how often you should vacuum the coils on the back of your refrigerator? Does the soil in your garden need amendments to help with its productivity? And why was your electricity bill so high this month?
Well, a new app called Hint Home Intelligence can help answer almost any question related to home management and act as a one-stop information center for your home, with personalized resources and features specific to your address. The app was co-founded by Kyle Rush, a technology leader who was formerly the CTO at Maisonette, Yih-Han Ma, a home services expert, and Martha Stewart, the world’s leading expert in home management. (Martha really does have a steak in equity here and works for the company and the app; she’s not just a spokesperson).
How it works: The app builds a profile of your home from public data, like property records, weather and soil information, utilities, and more. Users can then upload documents like inspection reports, home warranties, mortgage documents, contracts, insurance policies, invoices, and more. It can also serve as storage for various contracts, files, and invoices related to your home. (It should be noted here that homeowners retain ownership of their home’s personal data, which can be deleted any time the user wishes, and that personal documents are never used to train AI models).
It can suggest what to make for dinner based on seasonal produce in your region, remind you about seasonal home maintenance to-dos, create a cleaning schedule for you and tell you how to maintain the appliances in your home, based on the exact brands and models you use.
I have a couple of friends who have already downloaded the app and are loving its abilities and its user-friendliness. The app is currently only available for iOS users but an Android version is in development.

The Martha Stewart Home Store in Dubai
Martha Stewart now has three standalone stores in Dubai in various malls around the country: Mirdiff City Center, Dubai Hills Mall and the Mall of Emirates. Additional stores are slated to open in India, Kuwait and Saudi Arabia in the coming months. (No word yet on a North American location...) The store is called simply, Martha Stewart Home, and carries a selection of her branded housewares under one roof: bedding, sheets and towels, cookware, dinnerware, glassware, kitchen utensils, table linens and more. The store is also supplemented with housewares by other brands in the Marquee family, including Laura Ashley Home, Dorma bedding, Bianca bedding, Muir bedding, Edion home fragrances, Sur La Table dinnerware and various kitchen appliances, such as hand mixers and crockpots. All of the items sold in the store were personally selected by Martha and her creative team.
Lisa Young Hallenbeck, a member of the Martha Moments Facebook group, recently had the opportunity to visit the store at Mall of Emirates and graciously shared her photos. Below is a look at the store.
The entrance to the store looks clean and inviting. Lisa was excited that they were having their holiday sale but she couldn't purchase anything because nothing would fit into her suitcase!9.03.2025
Martha Launches Elm Biosciences
The day after Martha's 84th birthday this year, she announced the launch of her new skincare line called Elm Biosciences, co-founded with her dermatologist, Dr. Dhaval Bhanusali. (The name of the brand was inspired by the name of the street, Elm Place, where Martha's childhood home was located in Nutley, New Jersey).
Preordering for the new skincare line is now live; shoppers can preorder two new products that will ship out on September 17th - the A30 Elemental Serum ($135), an antioxidant serum with the A30 complex at its base, which targets visible signs of aging such as dehydration, irritation and UV damage, and the Inner Dose Daily Skin Supplement ($50), a capsule that addresses hormonal imbalance, inflammation and oxidative stress. All items preordered will be shipped on September 17th.
According to a press release, the new skincare brand consists of "a dual-pathway system designed to treat the internal and external drivers of aging, simplifying daily beauty routines while delivering powerful, clinically-tested results."
Martha says: "This brand is targeted to a very broad audience. Cells die. Skin ages. We're aging the minute we're born. So we have opportunities here to halt that, or at least prolong the health of our skin. And that's what we're trying to do here."
These clinical tests have been ongoing since 2020 when Martha began developing the line with Dr. Bhanusali. The line has the backing of 350 dermatologist advisors who worked on testing the products.

New Martha Stewart Collection with Chilewich
Martha Stewart recently partnered with Chilewich, a textile company founded in New York in 2000, to launch a full collection of indoor/outdoor rugs, mats, placemats, table runners and coasters inspired by the textiles found in Martha's own homes and images of vintage textiles photographed for the pages of Martha Stewart Living magazine. The collection comes in a pleasing palette of neutrals, warm or cool tones to best suit your living space. Featuring 20 timeless pieces, the collection is durable, distinctive in design and easy to clean. Even nicer, everything is made in the United States using phthalate-free yarns by TerraStrand, which impart enduring resistance to staining, wear and fading, as well as mold and mildew growth.
Martha has been a Chilewich customer for decades and applauds the company's commitment to American-made products that last, using eco-friendly materials without sacrificing attractive design.
“This beautiful, new collaborative collection explores treasured patterns and rich textures in my favorite colors. You'll love how easily they wipe clean and stay looking new through years of enjoyment. No ironing necessary," said Martha in a statement.
Below are some examples from the collection. I love how modern they are while still honouring classic design motifs, such as damask, handkerchief and grosgrain ribbon. Below are some examples from the collection. Click here to see the full Martha Stewart Collection with Chilewich. You can also purchase these items through the Martha Stewart shop on Amazon.

Martha's Flower Businesses
Flowers have always been an essential component of the Martha Stewart ethos. From her first catering business to her books and magazines, flowers (both growing and arranging them) are central to the Martha Stewart way of life. As a caterer during the late 1970s and early 1980s, on the morning of an event, Martha and her team would head out before dawn to the flower markets, ensuring they had access to the best and most plentiful selection to help supplement those she had already picked from her own garden at Turkey Hill Road. In her books on gardening and entertaining, too, she frequently espoused the allure of arrangements of flowers throughout the house when hosting guests.
It was in January of 2000 when Martha finally brought a flower business into the Omnimedia fold, allowing her readers and viewers - many of whom did not have gardens - to partake in the enjoyment of Martha's favourite varieties and arrangements. She had already launched a catalog business, which at that point was functioning online as well: Marthasflowers.com was born.
In her letter to readers in the February, 2000, issue of Martha Stewart Living, Martha explains the concept:
“Using the knowledge that I gained during those years of catering, and the experience that we have garnered editing this magazine and Weddings, we have started an online flower business, marthasflowers.com, so that you, too, can have access to the most beautiful, freshest flowers obtainable anywhere. Our flowers staff, headed by crafts editor Hannah Milman, meticulously tests myriad varieties before we make our selections. The finest growers in the United States, South America and Europe have been visited and consulted and studied so that what we are sending you meets our standards.”
Consumers had the option of ordering online from either the marthasflowers.com, marthabymail.com or the marthastewart.com websites. They would receive what are known as ‘grower’s bunches’ – flowers that have been picked and wrapped by the growers themselves, shipped directly to the Martha Stewart warehouses where they were packaged in specially branded boxes with printed care instructions, and then sent immediately to the purchaser – all within hours of the stems having been cut. They were never unwrapped or excessively handled and were not picked over.Flower subscription services were also available; consumers could subscribe to receive weekly deliveries of flowers for a three-month, six-moth or one-year period: three months was $148, six months was $278, and a year was $528 - a steal, by today's standards!
The flowers were shipped by FedEx Priority Overnight to ensure a timely delivery. Delivery could also be made on Saturdays with a $10 surcharge, but there was no delivery on Sunday or Monday, as per FedEx guidelines at the time.
The flowers and bouquets on offer depended on availability and seasonality. Martha and her team took care to ensure seasonal and celebratory themes for the choices of flowers available. There were hydrangeas and delphiniums in summer, hyacinths and daffodils in winter, tulips, lilies, and ranunculus in spring and many more varieties that were available at different times of year. The most popular of all, of course, were the roses. There was a special rose-delivery service within the MarthasFlowers business that specialized in monthly selections of roses chosen by Martha herself, based primarily on colour.
When the catalog shut down in 2004, MarthasFlowers.com continued. In 2008 when Martha partnered with 1-800-Flowers (the largest flower-delivery service in the United States) to expand the flower-delivery service. Martha’s team, headed up by stylist Tom Borgese, designed the bouquets while 1-800-Flowers handled the deliveries. Vases and vessels chosen by Martha were also on offer. As with the original flower business, a subscription service was available. This partnership lapsed in 2014.
In 2018, with Martha’s company now being handled by Sequential Brands, Martha partnered with Bloomsybox.com, a Dutch-based flower delivery company, to once again continue the flower-delivery business. Repeating the model, Martha’s team came up with the arrangement types while Bloomsybox handled the deliveries. Subscription service was also available. This partnership lapsed in 2022.
In each business model described, Martha
and her team were central to the selection and arrangement of the flowers. MarthasFlowers.com,
the first incarnation of the flower business, handled the distribution of the flowers that were ordered from the growers. This was at a time when Martha’s company was at
its most robust, with nearly one thousand employees working with Omnimedia. As
Martha’s company downsized, the deliveries of the grower's bunches and bouquets were outsourced to a
flower delivery company: 1-800-Flowers and BloomsyBox.com. In every instance, however, Martha ensured
that the flowers came from reputable growers from around the world and always
selected the best varietals available.
