Ever wonder when you should flush your water heater or how often you should vacuum the coils on the back of your refrigerator? Does the soil in your garden need amendments to help with its productivity? And why was your electricity bill so high this month?
Well, a new app called Hint Home Intelligence can help answer almost any question related to home management and act as a one-stop information center for your home, with personalized resources and features specific to your address. The app was co-founded by Kyle Rush, a technology leader who was formerly the CTO at Maisonette, Yih-Han Ma, a home services expert, and Martha Stewart, the world’s leading expert in home management. (Martha really does have a steak in equity here and works for the company and the app; she’s not just a spokesperson).
How it works: The app builds a profile of your home from public data, like property records, weather and soil information, utilities, and more. Users can then upload documents like inspection reports, home warranties, mortgage documents, contracts, insurance policies, invoices, and more. It can also serve as storage for various contracts, files, and invoices related to your home. (It should be noted here that homeowners retain ownership of their home’s personal data, which can be deleted any time the user wishes, and that personal documents are never used to train AI models).
It can suggest what to make for dinner based on seasonal produce in your region, remind you about seasonal home maintenance to-dos, create a cleaning schedule for you and tell you how to maintain the appliances in your home, based on the exact brands and models you use.
I have a couple of friends who have already downloaded the app and are loving its abilities and its user-friendliness. The app is currently only available for iOS users but an Android version is in development.
