Martha Stewart Weddings: The Style Issue

The fall issue of Martha Stewart Weddings will be on newsstands this Monday - and it's all about style, that elusive element that makes any event spectacular and memorable; from apparel to jewelry to chic décor ideas, the fall issue covers it all. On the cover is Lauren Conrad and her bridesmaids, each of whom is wearing a gown that Conrad designed herself. The TV star (The Hills) turned fashion designer will be marrying law student William Tell later this year. In the issue, Conrad shares her personal style plans for the big day. There are also all those cakes and flower arrangements and DIY ideas that make Martha Stewart Weddings the best in its class.

If one chooses to start to use their Sterling Silver Knives and forks everyday rather than on special occasions the dos and don't include No dish washer right? hand wash the pieces. Also it seems the items should not be tossed into a plastic flatware holder, As I would allow them the air dry but storage for everyday use I mean, the items will look used and get roughed up I suppose, But is that okay? I mean just having it in a box well does not seem right, Any thought on the subject??

Any word on this years Halloween special issue? Normally we would have heard about it by now for its day after Labor Day release.

There is no Halloween issue this year, sadly. The company is going through a fallow period where they're really trimming the fat. There were two special issues planned for this year: the Halloween issue and an Everyday Food special issue for the newsstand. Both were cut. I hope next year it goes from 'back to basics' to 'back to normal!'

Thoughts on silver: I've always heard Martha say it's better to use your silverware often than to just let it sit. The more frequently you use it, the more frequently you will wash it, which reduces the oxidation process that tarnishes it. No, don't store it in plastic cutlery sorters. Keep it in the silver chest and maybe consider moving it to the kitchen. Martha, of course, has a drawer in her kitchen lined with special anti-oxidation fabric where she keeps her silver.

Oh no! That saddens me that there will be no Halloween special issue. What ever happened to the contest costume design winner, if there ever was one? Could Martha in costume possibly be on the October issue of Living? Either way, at least we still have that months issue to look forward to.

I'm not sure what happened with that contest. It's possible Martha will be on the cover of the October issue. I certainly hope so!

Andrew would it be shabby or chic for a gifted "wedding registry" item were found at a tag sale? I have found so much of my battery de cuisine at tag sales. Fluted bundt pans, coffee maker, Madelaine pans electric skillet, pepper grinder,
glass footed cake pedestals, cast iron skillets, One would think building this resource in this manner would make sense. If only I had seen the $12 MS beehive cake mold first!

Re the comments about the "cut" special magazine issues .
I have great concerns about the health and longevity of the MSL magazine and ultimately the company Ms Stewart has work so hard to start and keep afloat. I don't base this on secret corporate info, but dispute Martha's continued new product lines and promotional efforts, the magazine issues seem to continue to shrink in content and products seem to disappear at various stores (i.e. Staples). I sincerely hope I am misreading this situation as I believe the Martha Stewart message of style and good taste is an important message to disseminate.

A company has a corporate life span. The MSL started as a newsletter, then a magazine, then a TV show etc etc now the cookbooks and specials are replacing the grind. Special appearances oh my-- all the trade shows She speaks at-- it is almost her new business --her personality celebrity is bringing in her cash flow it is gravy, no overhead. They pay for the ticket. Now the blog and photo shoots probably offset the costs of maintaining the multiple households -- any thought on this thread??

All your statements may be 100% true. But while Ms Stewart's economic well being is not in question, her message of style and grace is threatened if her corporation does not thrive and prosper........which was the point of my comment.
