I was contacted by an assistant producer in late November and then spoke to one of the producers a few weeks later: the indifatigable Lenore Welby, who has been with Martha Stewart Living for 15 years, and whose mother was a big fan of mine when I was writing for SaveMartha.com!
Lenore and I spoke for a while about my blog and she informed me that I was being considered as a possible guest on the show. I could hardly contain my excitement but remained calm. ("Keep calm and carry on" is such a fantastic mantra...and it makes a pretty poster too!) Two weeks later, just before Christmas, I got word from Lenore that I would, in fact, be on a segment on the show to discuss my blog and to do a craft with Martha on the air!
The show is going to be about bloggers and their blogs. The audience is going to be filled with bloggers and their laptops, and there I will be, standing next to my muse for the world to see, making a craft of some sort, all for the purposes of then blogging about it! (Dreams do come true, folks!)
To say I am humbled and honoured by the invitation is an understatement. I was so flattered simply to find out that Martha enjoys my blog and to learn that it is popular with many people at Omnimedia, never mind being invited to New York City to partake in a segment on her talk show! It's really quite amazing! I'm thrilled and excited.
Obviously, you can expect to see all kinds of photos here on the blog after the taping! I will try to get some good ones of the studio, of Martha, and of some of the other guests. (I'm thinking Alexis and Jennifer will be on, maybe Kevin Sharkey, maybe Perez Hilton again, maybe Scott Schuman of Sartorialist fame, but I'm not sure of the guest list yet. You'll have to tune in!!)
Good things are happening at Martha Moments! Stay tuned in the near future for a feature interview here with pet expert Marc Morrone and then a preview of some never-before-seen photos of the grounds at Skylands, Martha's home in Maine!

Can't believe I didn't see this post earlier. Congratulations Andrew. The show is wonderful and I can't wait to watch it back on the internet and watch you with Martha. Oh it will be wonderful! Who are you taking with you? have you decided what you will wear? I would be making lists if I was you, but perhaps it is best that you aren't otherwise you probably wouldn't be that calm on the day!
Huge congratulations. I can't wipe the smile off my face as I type!
wow! i'm jealous, i admit. gosh, i'd probably be too nervous to get anything out of my mouth while wearing a silly smile... however, i'm sure you'll be great!
ps. have you decided what to wear?
Wow! I just came across your blog! I am so happy for you and I don't even know you! First thing I thought was "Fairy tales can come true...It can happen to you". I'll make sure I watch!
Andrew, you mean you have been keeping this all to yourself since before Christmas?! Wow, you DO have a lot of self control! I have alwasy said your blog is amongst the very best, and now all of your hard work is bearing sweet fruit! I can't wait to see you in action, but will you even be able to execute the craft successfully with Martha by your side? I'd be shaking like a leaf, and would probably make a mess of it. Good luck to you - all of your blog visitors will be watching, and wishing you the very best!
Wow, this is certainly an exciting way to start the New Year! I am so happy for you. Have fun on Martha's show!
AWESOME! have fun :-)
Andrew! I am so excited for you. I am a lurking fan of your blog, but I had to come out and tell you that I will be one of the bloggers in the audience! I, too, am wondering who the other guests will be. Good luck to you - I am sure you will knock Martha's socks off.
Hi Colleen! I'll see you there!! Again, thanks to everyone for the support! It means a lot.
That is so awesome! I will be sure to set the DVR. Have a great time!
Aww, Andrew! That's amazing news! I always wondered when you'd be on her show!! Congratulations friend, you've definitely earned it with all of your hard work you've put into Martha Moments. This is my FAVORITE blog... Along with Martha and Kevin's blog. It's like the CNN of Martha Stewart News!! I met Martha in the summer at the Botanical Garden in New York, and it was probably the most exciting moment of my life! She was so kind and genuine; everything I hoped she would be! Cherish this moment!! I'm so excited for you! And keep up the good work on the blog! -Brian
Aw, Andrew, really go for it fella! Have the best of times with Martha. Best for 2010, Irene
PS Loved the article on neutral palettes - it makes me chuckle inside when they're described as safe as they really are profoundly comforting, peaceful and not always easy to get right.
Andrew,
For years you have done a wonderful job covering "all things Martha". I especially remember those things you wrote about back in the SaveMartha.com days with John Small. I launched efforts to support Martha too... such as the "Cross Country Birthday Flight" and the "Boxing Match for Martha's Media Pundits". Thank goodness you keep going with all you were doing even back then. Good luck on the MARTHA TV Show. I'll be watching.
Edd Townsend
