An Amazing Day!

Hello everyone! I just left the studio of the Martha Stewart Show and am now writing this blog from the New York Public Library. (Shockingly for a blogger, I'm extremely low-tech and do not own a laptop or any other form of mobile communication device. Call me old fashioned! Anyhow, I get to enjoy the architecture of this beautiful old building as I blog. You'll see some of it in my upcoming photo essay about the trip.)

Let me just say that I had the most extraordinary time this morning. Meeting Martha and doing a segment with her was one of the most incredible moments in my life so far! A true dream come true. (She is absolutely GORGEOUS in person, by the way - even up close! - not to mention very sweet, charming and outgoing, yet very calm and reassuring. A truely wonderful person and fabulous in every way!)

The producers, and all the staff, were so friendly and accommodating. They really went out of their way to make all the guests feel special and unique. (Lenore, you're a gem!) To everyone at the studios, thank you so much for making it a comfortable, relaxed and happy place!

I will have so many photos and so many details to share with everyone once I return to Canada. Brian Williams had to cancel his appearance due to the earthquake in Haiti. Martha and I chatted a bit about the situation there before our segment together. She's truly concerned about it and expressed geniune sadness for the state of affairs down there.

Suffice it to say, the day was an expeience that I will never forget. I made new friends, created enchanting memories and enjoyed every second of my time there, which just flew by! (I hope you all enjoyed the show and maybe got inspired to start your own blog.)

I'm in New York for the next few days and plan on taking in many of the sights, so please forgive me if I do not blog again until Sunday night upon my return - at which point I'll have numerous photos to share! Stay tuned!

Until then, enjoy the blogosphere!
Yours Truly,
Andrew R.

okay - my first blog comment ever! On today's show did you hear Martha say Pad Thai in her way while her guest pronounced it differently? And they kept at it! Martha never adjusted. The guest persisted. A Pad Thai battle!

I just saw you on the show, how fun. My son is a regular contributing blogger on a site which originates in Vancouver, BC. I didn't even know what blogging was all about until I saw Julie and Julia, and my son's blogging. You are fun and I am enjoying exploring your notes on Martha.

First of all, let me say you looked very dapper, I loved what you were wearing - very smart! You didn't seem nervous at all, which was great, and I loved the gift basket she gave you at the end of your segment - are those her new cleaning supplies soon available at Home Depot? And from Martha's comments she seemed to really admire your blog, and said a couple of times how beautiful it is. And I liked how you got in the little hug and peck at the end - well done! ;)

I have a couple of critical comments that I will perhaps make later when you return. Nothing to do with you or Martha. I will say this now,I didn't like all the "stalker" talk. I know they were just joking, but for those who have not visited your blog yet, it gave the impression that it was just a celebrity gossip site, and nothing could be further from the truth. Anyway, more later, and I will be definitely be looking forward to those photos! Congrats, Andrew - not everyone gets to live their dream!

Andrew! Like everyone else, I saw you this morning. Congratulations, and I wish you a great time in NY. As I was reading your blog, I noticed that you wish for others to start their own blogs. You got me! I came and started writing on mine, even if I still don't have much to say there. It'll come. Right? Saludos!

Let me join the throng Andrew by saying how proud we are of you! You were composed, respectful, humble and authentic. I knew when I saw Brian Williams in Haiti that they'd have to find a way to fill in time -- too bad you didn't get more air-time. Would have been infinitely better than all that 'stalker' talk, which was really pretty vulgar and disrespectful to you, I thought, just for a few perceived laughs. Anyway, your blog and your appearance on the show speak volumes: class all the way.

best, and enjoy the big city,
Ailsa
