K.D. Lang's hit "Summerfling" came to mind the moment I received the July issue, its lyrics perfectly conjuring the carefree breeziness of summer's essence: "Early morning mid July/ Anticipation`s making me high/ The smell of Sunday in our hair/ We ran on the beach with Kennedy flair/ Sweet sweet burn of sun and summer wind/ And you my friend, my new fun thing, my summer fling." This July issue (my new fun thing) covers all the bases, working effortlessly to provide inspiration in each of the magazine's core-content areas; there are crafting, cooking, gardening and decorating stories, all beautifully conveyed in photographs that make you want to throw open the windows, run barefoot through the grass to an inviting lake or partake in a delicious meal cooked alfresco on the grill. Simple summer pleasures, indeed! Below are some highlights from the issue.
I have really enjoyed the June issue (which is out a little early this time in the UK). I am still not sure if I like seeing the word 'Simple' all the time, I like the challenge of Martha, but July certainly looks like something to look forward to! Enjoy your new 'fun thing!'
ReplyDeleteHaha! I totally agree, Pru. The word 'simple' is a response to Real Simple magazine, no doubt: a way to poke the competition while camouflaging itself. The June issue was great: amazing recipes!
