The October Issue

The editors have given us two covers for the October issue of Martha Stewart Living this year. The image on the left is what you'll find on newsstands and on the iPad version of the magazine. The image on the right was sent to subscribers only. (I much prefer the newsstand cover!) Inside the magazine, there is wonderful content, including Jude's first birthday party (Martha's granddaughter), a Halloween fun house with make-up tips, costume ideas and decoration how-tos, gorgeous autumn arrangements, hearty homecooked dinners, a lesson on heirloom apples, a tailgate party at a horse-race meeting in New Jersey and a Chicago collector's eclectic home. This is a good issue!

  1. If I'm not mistaken, wasn't there already a similar caramel apple October cover a few years ago? The last time I saw an October Halloween cover was with the jack-o-lantern clock. I think that was in 2008? Since then, the October issue (which I used to look forward to because of it's Halloween look) has taken up an Autumn theme.

  2. For the last few years they've been reserving the Halloween content for the special Halloween issues, making the October issue more about Fall, which I actually prefer.

  6. Emma, the Halloween issue is already out. It's a reprint of the 2010 Halloween issue, so nothing new.

  7. The photo of Jude's mother was astonishing. She is as blonde as the toddlers.

  8. I never understood why Martha Stewart's name is so small on the Living magazine. Why not make it bigger? I would think her famous name would attract more buyers.

  10. Her name was downsized in 2004 during her legal battles. Prior to that it was in bold, capital letters in a colour block in the top left corner of the magazine. I agree. I think her name should come back in bigger font.

  11. Tom, the best place to see exterior photos is at Martha's personal blog: themarthablog.com. Once there, do a search for cantitoe corners and you'll come up with lots of photos.
