Her paint line will soon be moving from Lowe's to Home Depot, so keep that in mind. I could be wrong about the colour, because it doesn't list the paint colour in the issue, so don't quote me on it. My suggestion would be to print it out and bring it with you when you choose the paint.ANDREW RITCHIEhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/07527048900781045398noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-23768882.post-58050423671960052382010-03-17T17:43:17.234-05:002010-03-17T17:43:17.234-05:00I have been trying to find out what color that is ...I have been trying to find out what color that is in the photo of Martha's bedroom with the four poster bed wiht blue fabric. The wall color (which I hope is one of Martha's colors available from Lowes!) is the exact shade I am looking for, for my upstairs bedroom in my old 1700 Cape. PLEASE let me know what shade it is and hopefull it is one available at Lowes. Thanks so much.50sgalhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/09250940806307766624noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-23768882.post-37851697626073631642009-08-17T17:46:22.712-05:002009-08-17T17:46:22.712-05:00Loved this - thanks so much. (Martha intends to make it an all-season porch by glassing it in.) The Summer House can be seen, ironically, in a winter issue of Martha Stewart Living. Last December's issue has a feature that shows the outside and inside of the Summer House. It's a traditional Colonial. You can catch little glimpses of the other dwellings on Martha's blog by searching under the My Home category.ANDREW RITCHIEhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/07527048900781045398noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-23768882.post-44121300231645830662009-08-13T23:35:22.323-05:002009-08-13T23:35:22.323-05:00Very nice, Andrew! However, the phrase,"There are also staff quarters near the stables" sounds a wee bit plantation-like! ;)

I didn't realize there were so many dwelings/buildings on the property. So the winter House is the main residence. Is that the one with the front porch and the dormer windows? From all the work they did to it, including turning it on its foundation, makes it essentially a new house. Has Martha published any photos of either the Summer House, Guest cottage or tenant cottage, and if so, where can we see those?

The rooms are elegant and well-appointed, as one would expect from Martha. But for me, they are slightly lacking in character and depth. They are lovely, no doubt, and I like some of the more unusual color choices. I wish she would go bolder sometimes. I also the like inclusion of elements of Swedish traditional design. when we think of Swedish design here, we immediately think modern/IKEA. But Swedish country homes are very similar to their American cousins, using a lot of wood, painted furniture, floral motifs, mirrors and glass, etc.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.com
